It’s Christmas time! The kids have just received their gifts and are on break: tonight is a night to celebrate and finish the year off right. Music, singing, dancing, and drama: all these things come together in a colorful collaboration, rising up to Christ like a sweet aroma of thanks. Thanks for all that he has blessed us with at T.E.A.R.S. School: a good building and lots of educative material, a cafeteria and the means to provide children with food, a team of awesome, committed staff and- most incredibly- himself. To know that God is present with us in this journey is ultimately the most reassuring truth of all.
The evening kicked off with each class presenting a short song and scripture recital. To see their precious, young faces shouting joyfully to God was very moving- a beautiful symbol , gleaming like the sunrise, revealing the glory of Jesus, who began this praiseful work and will bring it to full completion. As their voices rose in crescendo, I could not help but pray that- over the course of these children’s lives- their faith will do the same.
As things progressed, the youth from El Camino Church- along with Darin Dueck (who is actively involved with DRIME Ministries in Vancounver, Canada) - presented an inspiring series of visual performances, depicting the gospel of Christ and its impact on the individual. Through forceful and passionate movements, this drama team made it clear where their hearts are at. Things ended off with warm embraces and some treats for all the children and parents. It was a great lead-in to Christmas, where we are called to remember Jesus and the revolutionary message he brought with him when he entered the world.
