Christmas Dinner

On December 20th, all the staff of T.E.A.R.S. School, along with family and friends, enjoyed an exciting finale in what was a very mysterious, deceptive and laughable Secret Santa succession. Every Friday, each staff member would receive an anonymous gift from their ‘Angelito’ or ‘Little Angel’. The amount of craftiness and strange behavior was nothing short of hilarious. It was like a month-long psychological game, trying to guess who on earth was giving you toy cars with a Bible verse one week and various fruits accompanied by a fake police message the next.

All the secrecy and guile wrapped up dramatically as we met at Casa Club in Jarabacoa to celebrate and present our last, and greatest, gifts. From maracas to Monopoly to make-up sets, all the giving and receiving became electric and joyous. Along with the great food, it made for an unforgettable night.

Later on, Joy pulled even more tricks out of her sleeve, revealing some extra prizes and giving them out by drawing random names. Leaning back and reflecting on the first half of the school year, sharing stories and good jokes, playing pool and dancing Bachata- it all combined in what felt, to me, like both a satisfied conclusion and an animated opening at once. I thank God for moments like these. I also eagerly anticipate what he has in store for all of us in the New Year.

    Hi Derek
Great to read your blogs! Keep them coming. We had a great team meeting today after church and have worked through many details. Your aunts are very talented as you know in this area. Can’t wait to be down there to see you and the TEARS team again
    Blessings,
    Don
