I was so wiped out after my week I wasn’t in the right mood to host a mentor retreat. What I was really looking forward to was the time when the girls would leave and I could just sit and visit with our Canadian visitors. I entered into prayer to prepare my heart for such an important day. I was reassured that it wasn’t me doing the hosting and that nothing that would happen during that day would depend on me, instead if I made myself available I could be used to make this day the Lord’s day.
We started set-up: filling large pots with boiling water to tie-dye, arranging the snack on platters and pinning up last minute decorations. As the girls began to file in I was energized again and ready to see what God had in mind for our time together. Our group had grown from 33 to nearly 80 and while I had plans for that growth I was still struck by it. We spent time playing, learning a dance, eating, and Wanda shared her heart about who we are in Christ. It was a special day and many more girls made decisions for Christ.
