After our leaders meeting in March we’ve been praying for direction for how God would like to be glorified in His church in Maria Auxiliadora [El Camino]. God has been encouraging us to strengthen the families in this community with the gospel of the Kingdom (develop Christ centered families) and how we can help the families in this neighborhood make Christ their foundation. This was our primary focus in our last meeting. Sometimes I stand at my door and watch the young people ages 12 to 25, men and women, walking like they have no hope in life. They are involved in drugs and crime. I know that the problems come from their homes. Their parents don’t dedicate the time that they are in need of, so they are trying to meet their needs in other things. My prayer is that God will start to reorganize the families in Maria Auxiliadora and that through the reorganization, show His glory to the world. The Lord’s Church is in charge of taking this hope to the world, to share the good news, the Gospel of salvation.

At present a 5 gallon jug of purified water costs 40 pesos [over 1 US dollar] and it was impossible for the families in this barrio to afford good quality water. This led to many sicknesses in both children and adults. With the help of a church in Canada we have been able to develop The Healing Waters Project. Now with our own purification system we are able to sell a 5 gallon jug of water for just 10 pesos [around 30 us cents]. After just one year, an estimated 80 percent of all the families in our barrio are consuming very good, purified water and we are able to employ two people from the church. The goal of this project is to have more open doors into the homes in the community in which we can share the gospel.

This ministry is focused on helping some families who have great economic needs; families that don’t have sufficient clothes, food, or a roof over their heads. We have aimed to help those in need as much as possible. At the present time we are in the process of helping two different brothers from the church do construction work on their homes.

In our community the kids that study have to go all the way to the city in order to do their research homework. We have a vision to build a library that will provide all the materials needed. We started last week with the help of some brothers and sisters from Colorado. We built some tables and painted the room where the library will be. Also with the help of our brothers and sisters in Canada we started to buy some of the books we need. We are also collecting books from people all throughout the barrio so that they will be available to everyone.

The work you are doing is wonderful. I look forward to hearing more about it. We in Colorado are praying for strength, vision and for leaning on the Lord to supply physically and spiritually what’s needed in the barrio!
