On Sunday, May 4, the congregation of El Camino held their second church meeting, following up on the groundwork that had begun in March. The church is taking steps to involve all of the leaders in their decision-making process.

-Community outreach will be taking a new form, as each aspect of El Camino’s ministry will be using a portion of Varsity Bible Church’s support for their specific area, thus expanding social work to encompass every area and member of the church, rather than being limited to a separate ministry headed only a few. The worship ministry, sports ministry, drama ministry, women’s ministry, children’s church, and water ministry all seek to impact the barrio in unique ways and El Camino felt that contributing to each part in this way was a wiser way to go. Social works are for every member of the church, not for a select few.

-El Camino’s partnership with Aguas de Unidad (Waters of Unity), a local water filtration company, has undergone some issues with water availability in the barrio and resulting problems with staff salaries and church debt. Aguas de Unidad wants to meet with Bau, Fe and Danny in the capital; the congregation is hoping that all goes well.
-The church has recently established a library, utilizing many Biblical resources that have been donated over the years. The library will serve as a quiet place where individuals or families can study and reflect on the word of God, discovering new texts and growing in Christ.

Pray with us that God would draw the people of Maria Auxiliadora to himself in every way; through the love and invitations of the congregation, through the upcoming basketball tournament on the 10th, through the praise concert on the 20th and through the teams from Minnesota and New York- among others- that will be coming down to serve this summer.
