Construction of a new cistern is underway to support the growing need for water at the T.E.A.R.S. School, El Camino church, and Aguas de Unidad. Watching the construction–or destruction–required for this process has been quite amazing. A week ago I saw two guys armed with pick axes and sledge hammers commence the process of removing the concrete, dirt, and rocks to make way for the cistern. Not a backhoe, not jackhammers….elbow grease and lots of sweat. I began to imagine a months worth of digging, picking, and heaving of dirt and rock. But sure enough a couple days later we no have ourselves a perfectly excavated hole measuring exactly 2.5 meters deep and 3 meters by 3.6 meters square around the perimeter. With classes at the T.E.A.R.S. School a week away from commencing this project is close to completion and will ensure there is sufficient, clean drinking water for the students at the school.
Thank you for you partnership in ministry with T.E.A.R.S. that enables projects like this and many others to reach completion and provide needed services in our community.
