Cheo works as our maintenance man at the T.E.A.R.S. School. His real name is Eliseo, which means Elisha in English. He is a totally cool and laid-back guy; he can always be found having a good time. He was raised in a Catholic church, living under a burden of legalism. He was introduced to the true, liberating gospel of Christ and his life has never been better.
He now serves at the El Camino church and has a real heart for the youth in the barrio. He is currently starting up a youth club to give young people a chance to have fun and be reconciled to God. It is too easy to slip into drug use here, and Cheo is passionate about changing that, one heart at a time. He is super athletic and loves to play basketball as well, looking at this as an opportunity to minister to his friends.
Cheo is a true man of God, and light-hearted as well; he loves to tell jokes and just play around. It is difficult if not impossible to be around Cheo and not laugh at least once during the encounter. Strong, hard-working and always down for whatever needs to be done, Cheo is an indispensible member of our team. He lives with his wife Wanda, who also works at T.E.A.R.S. School as our cook, and his four children.
